Guided by the values of public service and servant leadership, Gregory J. Middents has spent his life committed to making a difference.
Raised in Sherman, Texas, Greg grew up in a home grounded in faith, education, and community. The son of a Presbyterian minister and college professor, and a mother who taught kindergarten, he learned early the importance of responsibility, integrity, and service to others—principles that would shape both his character and his career.
As a young man, Greg was recognized as “4-H’er of the Year” for his work raising and showing horses and was active in the Boy Scouts. That early sense of discipline and responsibility led him to Washington, D.C., where he served as an LBJ Intern and later as a Legislative Aide to his local Congressman—an experience that ignited a lifelong commitment to public service.
Returning to Texas, Greg managed a U.S. Congressional campaign in the Texas Panhandle before seeking public office himself. At just 29 years old, he defeated an incumbent judge and was elected Judge, Justice of the Peace in Grayson County, becoming the youngest judge elected there. He would go on to serve four terms in office
During his judicial career, Greg earned a reputation for principled leadership and hands-on work in juvenile justice. His efforts received statewide recognition from Texas Governors Ann Richards and George W. Bush. Believing accountability and opportunity must work hand in hand, he helped bring Big Brothers Big Sisters of America into the county and supported early diversion efforts that later contributed to the success of a Veterans Diversion Court.
Greg later served within the judiciary for the State of Hawaii, further broadening his perspective on justice and public service. During that time, his hometown school district in Texas honored him as a Distinguished Alumnus.
His commitment to public service extended into national politics, where he worked as a field organizer in North Florida for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. In 2019–20, he was part of Joe Biden’s successful campaign, coordinating and organizing the volunteer outreach for the campaign. In the general election, Greg served as the Rural Outreach Advisor, helping ensure that rural America’s voice was represented. He also served on the Texas Leadership Team
Presently in the Florida Keys, Greg continues his work in the courts while writing and reflecting on a lifetime spent inside the systems that shape American life—law, government, and politics.
He did not study the system from the outside—he served inside it.
From the courtroom to national politics, Greg has spent a lifetime where decisions carry consequences, leadership demands accountability, and character is ultimately revealed through action.
