Judge Middents continues to set the standard in Grayson County for his innovative and effective approaches in dealing with students who skip school.  Since first instituting the Truancy Court, he has heard over 2,000 cases from Sherman, Bells, Whitewright and Tom Bean School Districts.

"Results are showing that attendance is up and attitudes are changing with 85% of students who come before the Court returning and staying in school.
When youth are not in school, statistics show patterns develop of juvenile crime, gang activity and delinquent behavior.  Early intervention is the key to stopping such detrimental developments."

Judge Middents' efforts have been recognized by Former Governors George Bush and Ann Richards plus the Sherman School District Trustees for effectively addressing the school drop-out rate.

"The Sherman Independent School Board of Trustees hereby commend Judge Gregory J. Middents for his outstanding record in dealing with the truancy issue."

SISD Board of Trustee

Every school district in Grayson County wants to emulate the truancy program he has implemented for the past 13 years.
