Greg's
ties to Grayson County started back when he was just four
years old after his family moved to Texas. His involvements with his
church, school, 4-H, and Boy Scouts gave him a good
understanding of our county.
He
was active in his youth and was named "4-H Wrangler of the
Year." Greg rode and showed quarter horses during his
teenage years, competing at county fairs and local horse
shows. In high school, he was a student leader, active in
student government. This gave Greg greater appreciation for
values that truly matter to Grayson County. He has a vision
for bridging us towards the future.
A
graduate of Sherman High School, Greg later graduated from
Midwestern State University. Greg worked for our U.S.
Congressman Ralph Hall as a Legislative Aide. He was a small
businessman until 1992 when he was elected Justice of the
Peace for Grayson County.
Judge Middents was one of the most innovative and effective
leaders in Grayson County for his 16 years of service.
Greg
continues to seek personal growth and professional
challenges in his life by pursuing a graduate degree. In
late 2009, he earned a Masters Degree in Organizational
Leadership from the University of Denver.
Greg's
step mother is Vice President of the Texas Credit Union
League.
You can tell where Greg developed his desire for public
service. His father, a retired college professor from Austin
College and Presbyterian minister, was actively involved in
the community educational and health services. He was
instrumental in forming and founding the present day MHMR of
Texoma.
Greg’s late mother was a kindergarten teacher at Key
Memorial Methodist Church and the City of Sherman. She was
instrumental in forming and founding the Grayson County
League of Women Voters.
They
both received the “Citizen of the Year Award” from the
League of Women Voters for their service to the community.
Greg’s sister is a public relations specialist and social
gerontologist.
